Chester Fritz Library Home > How to find articles
1. Finding an article
  1. From library.und.edu, click on the green Article tab near the center of the page.
  2. Enter your terms in the search box.
  3. Click on Search.
  4. A listing of articles in either magazines or journals should appear. If you see 'HTML FULL TEXT' or 'PDF FULL TEXT,' the full-text of the article is available.
  5. If not, click on , to search through all of the library’s databases to see if full text is available from another database.
  6. If the article is available, a listing of sources followed by green GO buttons pops up. Click on any of the green GO buttons to obtain the fulltext.
2. Advanced article searching
  1. If your instructor has named a specific database for you to search, you can use the Quick Links listing on the upper right hand side of library’s webpage or the More Databases: by A to Z link under the Article tab
  2. If you are unsure where to start, librarians have created pages to let you know the best places to start searching. Click Resources by Subject to find your area of interest . If you need further assistance, you can contact the librarian listed at the top of each Resources by Subject page.
3. How to get the entire article
  1. If there is PDF Full-Text or HTML full text link, you can click on either to obtain the entire article.
  2. If neither of those options is listed, try the button. This button works to look through all other possible options for full-text at UND.
  3. If no electronic access list comes up, be sure to check the “Holdings at UND” listing near the bottom of the results page to see if a paper format is available. You will be directed to the ODIN catalog. If the journal is available in paper, you will see a record for it including what floor the journal will be on and the call number.
4. What if no UND library has the journal article I need?
  1. There is a great service called Interlibrary Loan. We will try to obtain the article from another library at no cost to you. Fill out the convenient online interlibrary loan form accessed from the Library's homepage. Provide as much information as you can about the article or book. It will speed your request. The Interlibrary Loan Department will make every effort possible to obtain a copy of the article and will notify you via your u-mail account when it becomes available.
