I. Rooms in Chester Fritz Library are to be
used only for Library operations, for Library sponsored functions,
or when receiving special permission from Library Administration.
II. Rooms other than private staff offices and work areas for the day-to-day
operations of the Library can be classified as either Meeting Rooms, Group
Study Rooms, or Library Instruction Rooms.
III. Meeting, Group Study, and Library Instruction Rooms must be left
in a clean and orderly condition. Users assume all liability for equipment
or other valuables involved in use of the room.
There are three types of rooms:
1.MEETING ROOMS
There are two meeting rooms available:
- Library Conference Room-Room 2l7D
- East Asian Rooms-Room 405-406
Use of these rooms is subject to the following:
- First priority is given to meetings of CFL Library staff.
- To be considered for use of a meeting room, other events must be:
- Library-related and sponsored by a member of the Library staff
- Requested in writing at least one calendar week in advance, specifying
- name of requesting entity and name of individual who will accept
liability
- relationship to Library/UND
- name of Library sponsor
- purpose for which room is to be used
- estimated number of people
- equipment involved, if any
- Sponsorship of such events is subject to approval by the Director or Assistant
Director.
- Upon meeting the above criteria, the event must be scheduled on the control
calendar maintained in the Library Administrative Office.
- Scheduling priority is generally on a first-come, first- served basis.
- Scheduling conflicts, which can not be resolved by the parties involved
or the Director's
Administrative Assistant, are to be referred to the Assistant Director.
- Permission to permit consumption of food and beverages is at the discretion
of Library Administration.
2.GROUP STUDY ROOMS
There are six group study rooms available. Each is furnished with eight
chairs and a table.

- Room 423
- Study Rooms are available all hours that the Library is open. Use
is on a first-come, first-served basis, except that Library Administration
reserves the right to occasionally reserve a Study Room for a special
project.
- Study Rooms are intended for use of groups of two or more.
- An individual using a Study Room may be asked to vacate in favor of
a group of two or more.
- Groups may be asked to vacate a room after having occupied it for two
(2) consecutive hours.
- Occupants of Study Rooms (or any area in the Library) may be asked to
leave the area or the Library by CFL staff for inappropriate behavior.
Failure to honor this request or those cited above will result in asking
Campus Police to resolve the issue.
3.LIBRARY INSTRUCTION ROOMS
- Room 108 (Information Technology Center)
- Room 202
- Room 301
- Use of Library Instruction Rooms conforms to the current meeting room
policy as given above, with slight variations.
- Library Instruction Rooms support the Library's User Education Program.
The goal of the program is: to facilitate the use of information resources
by providing service in support of the research needs of the University
of North Dakota community of users. Use of the rooms is committed to instruction
on library and information resources, including training in the use of
equipment and software. The library cooperates with other campus units
to coordinate activities that fulfill this goal.
- Priorities for use of the Instruction Rooms reflect the traditional
priorities of our user education program:
- Use for the Library's credit class;
- Use for library instructional sessions, from general to advanced subject
presentations;
- Library sponsored workshops and/or staff training;
- All requests for rooms, not covered by A, B, or C must be submitted
to Library
Administration, 7-2618.
- Only authorized library staff may load external
software.
