- Application forms for carrel privileges are available in Library Administration,
Room 217, Chester Fritz Library.
- Permanent, full-time faculty is eligible for carrel privileges.
- Privileges are awarded to faculty engaged in extensive library research.
Carrels are not to be used as additional office or conference space
or as group study rooms.
- Due to high demand, two people may be assigned to each carrel.
- Only the assigned faculty member (s) may use the carrel. Library staff
will not give information concerning the location of faculty carrels
except in emergency situations.
- All faculty carrels are equipped with Ethernet ports directly connected
to ODIN. The Library does not provide computer hardware or software
for faculty study carrels.
- Carrel privileges are assigned for a one-year period. Extensions are
possible.
- Do not move furniture into or out of the carrel. Damage to furniture
and necessary repairs or replacements are to be reported to Library
Administration (7-2189).
- To comply with Public Safety and Fire Marshall directives, no objects
are to be attached to the windows on doors in the faculty carrels. Posters
or pieces of paper that have been placed to cover the glass will be
removed. Coffee makers and space heaters are not allowed.
- Food and drink are not allowed in faculty carrels. Smoking is also
not permitted. Articles left in the carrels beyond the assigned period
will be discarded.
- Library books used in faculty carrels must be checked out. Non-circulating
material, including journals and reference materials, may not be locked
in the carrels. Periodic inspections are made of each carrel. Library
staff will remove library material which is not checked out.
- Carrels, which appear to be unused, may be reassigned to another faculty
member due to the limited number of carrels available.
- Failure to comply with these regulations may result in the revocation
of carrel privileges.
