INTRODUCTION

ACQUISITION: This addition to the Vilhjalmur Stefansson Papers was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by Vilhjalmur Josephson, Victoria, British Columbia, in October 1980 (Acc.#80-669).

ACCESS: Available for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

A nephew of Stefansson, Vilhjalmur Josephson attended the dedication of the bust of Vilhjalmur Stefansson during Homecoming ceremonies in October 1980. It was at this time that he donated a scrapbook and photographs to the collection. The scrapbook contains correspondence, newspaper clippings and other memorabilia and was originally in plastic page protectors. The material was removed from these protectors and the original order of the scrapbook was maintained. Acid free paper was inserted before and after the newspaper clippings, to better preserve the material.

28 photographs were separated and placed in the Orin G. Libby Photograph Collection. Three oversize posters were separated and placed in the Oversize File Cabinet.
