INTRODUCTION

ACQUISITION: The Women's Suffrage Movement Papers were deposited into the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by Carolyn Bowe, Fargo, North Dakota, November 1982 (Acc #82-1048).

ACCESS: The collection is open for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection contains articles, speeches, news clippings, and posters concerning the women's suffrage movement at the state, national, and international level. Documents date from approximately 1908 to 1918.

  1. North Dakota materials, includes documents related to the Votes for Women League, most of which date from 1914
  2. United States materials, includes items from Colorado, Michigan, Georgia, as well as documents published by the National American Woman Suffrage Association in New York City. Also includes the 1908 Socialist Party platform and a copy of The Woman's Journal (6 MAY 1911).
  3. International materials, includes Jus Suffragii (15 JAN 1911), The Survey(13 JUL 1918 and 20 JUL 1918)
  4. "Plain Talk to Men and Women," a publication related to gender roles,
    sexual intercourse, and reproduction.
