INTRODUCTION

ACQUISITION: This addition to the American Association of University Professors, North Dakota State Records was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection (Acc.#85-1373).

ACCESS: The collection is open for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the American Association of University Professors, North Dakota State Records consists of materials relevant to the early organization of the state and campus chapter of the AAUP. The issues that confronted the association during the 1930s were: (1) the 1932 North Dakota Taxpayers' Association's initiated measure to reduce salaries of all state employees by twenty percent; (2) required subscriptions to the administration's newspaper; (3) the formation of the North Dakota Higher Education Association; (4) the operation of the Constitution of the University of North Dakota; and (5) tenure of professors.

The addition includes correspondence, constitution, national bulletins, minutes, reports, financial statements, and insurance plans dating primarily from 1930 to 1941 with a small amount of material from 1952 to 1955.
