INTRODUCTION

ACQUISITION: This addition to the Joseph Bell DeRemer Papers was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by the Book Fair, Grand Forks, North Dakota (via Al and Alice Thureen, East Grand Forks, Minnesota) on September 15, 1999 (Acc.#99-2401).

ACCESS: Open for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the Joseph Bell DeRemer Papers dated 1896-1942 and consists of DeRemer's lecture notes from his architectural schooling at Columbia University and Early Christian Ornament, an essay submitted by DeRemer to Professor Hamlin in 1896. Also included are correspondence and newspaper articles about designs by DeRemer, as well as an accounts payable and receivable ledger book. DeRemer's architectural drawings and sketches are also included.

Twelve photographs were separated and placed in the Orin G. Libby Photograph Collection. There are five photographs of the United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks and one photograph of the Cando School. There are also several unidentified photographs and two photographs of architecural drawings by Sam T. DeRemer: "Low cost dwelling scheme for West lot, Otto J. Eickhof, Crookston, Minnesota" and "Low cost dwelling scheme for East lot, Otto J. Eickhof, Crookston, Minnesota."
