ACQUISITION: This addition to the M. Beatrice Johnstone Papers was removed from another section of the Department of Special Collections and placed in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection in April 1994.

ACCESS: Open for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the M. Beatrice Johnstone Papers consists of one article and one unpublished manuscript. The article is entitled "Thirty Thousand Call Her Sweetheart", written by Ernest L. Grinnell. This article appeared in the May 1959 edition of Senior Citizen Magazine. The manuscript is entitled On the Plains of Dakota in 1865: Travels of Private Lyman K. Raymond, Co. I, 3rd Illinois Cavalry. The manuscript, composed by an unnamed person who married Lyman Raymond, recounts Raymond's travels in the Dakota Territory in the months following the end of the Civil War.
