ACQUISITION: This addition to the Sister Ellen Murphy Papers was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by Sister Ellen Murphy, St. Paul, Minnesota, November 4, 1997 (Acc.#98-2215).

ACCESS: Open for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the Sister Ellen Murphy Papers dates from 1904-1996. The addition contains Sister Ellen Murphy's diaries, which discuss the weather, daily activities, and other miscellaneous topics. Also included in this collection is correspondence from both family and friends and class notes from her graduate school courses. Many books owned by both Sister Ellen and her family members are included. Most of the books are religious with the exception of North Dakota Farmer's Institute.

The majority of this addition consists of Murphy family documents. Included is a ledger from 1919 and her brother, Charles N. (Tim), and sister, Colleen's report cards. Graduation announcements and programs from Murphy family children and grandchildren as well as wedding invitations from Murphy family relatives and friends are included.

Two photographs and have been separated and placed in the Orin G. Libby Photograph Collection.
