SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the Sister Ellen Murphy Papers includes correspondence dating from 1966 to 1982, a short story and poetry written by Sister Ellen and miscellaneous magazine clippings and photographs. In her correspondence, Sister Ellen describes her personal everyday concerns and activities including her poetry, her gardening and concerts and art exhibits attended. She also addresses professional concerns, her teaching in early childhood education at the College of Saint Catherine, St. Paul, MN; the continuance of the Lab School at the College of Saint Catherine; her dealings with various faculty members at CSC; and, her 1979-1980 sabbatical leave from CSC to explore early childhood studies and Montessori Schools in Boston, New York City, and London, England.
