The Hampden Implement Company was located in Hampden, North Dakota, along the border of Ramsey and Cavalier County. The company sold agriculture implements and general agricultural merchandise. The president of the company was M.A. (Mark) Knutson.
The Hampden Implement Records are divided into three series, as follows:. These series deal with correspondence received and sent, 1905-1926; materials related to the business operations of the firm 1907-1939; and bound financial records, 1903-1916.
SERIES I: Correspondence
Correspondence and other materials related to the ordering of equipment and the
business transactions of the Hampden Implement Company. The major correspondent
is M.A. Knutson, the president of the firm. The correspondence is arranged in
reverse chronological order, and then alphabetically by name of the
correspondent. The years covered are 1905-1926. Boxes 1-3
SERIES II:Business Operations
Included in this series are miscellaneous bills and invoices and complete
inventories from 1931- 1939. Also included are company catalogs and price lists
from various suppliers and manufacturers, from 1907-1910, as well as 1922. The
catalogs are particularly valuable for a history of agricultural implements in
the period. Boxes 4-5
SERIES III:Bound Financial Ledgers
This series consists of three groups of different financial records:
Company Account Books deal with records of financial transactions
between the Hampden Implement Company and specific accounts. 1905-1912.
Daily Ledger Books indicate business transactions for individual days
and cover the years 1903- 1916.
Miscellaneous ledgers include a cash ledger book (1905-1908), a payment
due ledger book (1905-1907) and a bills receivable ledger book (1903-1905).
