This addition to the Dr. Alice Hunter Papers consists of her personal diary from 1936. The diary recorded everyday events like meetings, different errands she ran, what the neighbors were doing, and happenings around town. The diary also contained information about the weather during the year, especially during the cold winter months. The main focus of the diary, however, was about her father, Adison I. Hunter, who was very ill at the time. She lived with and cared deeply for him.
Adison Hunter was in and out of the hospital throughout 1936, even going to Rochester for care. He died on Monday, December 7, and the funeral was held two days later on December 9.
After the death of her father, Dr. Hunters diary entries became shorter, as she was in mourning. She wrote about how she could not sleep at night, and then therefore had to sleep late into the morning. On December 31, 1930, she attended another funeral and wrote that it was "hard to go to thru funeral, so sad this time of year" (p. 366).
