SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The North Dakota Depression Interviews Collection is the result of a 1974 History course at the University of North Dakota. Students in the Spring Semester, History 395 class, North Dakota in the Depression, interviewed people who lived through the Great Depression in the state.

Persons interviewed were asked about their general background, conditions in North Dakota during the Great Depression, and their political preferences of the era. Besides a report of each interview, a brief biographical sheet is also included, which lists the person's name, age, occupation and political party. In some cases, a transcription of the interview is included, although the majority are reports of the interview.

The interviews are filed under the name interviewee, and are arranged alphabetically. Combined reports which deal with more than one person are housed at the end of the alphabet. Also listed is the person's place of residence during the Great Depression, although this information is not recorded in each report.
