INTRODUCTION

ACQUISITION: This addition to the William Lemke Papers was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by John Bye, Institute for Regional Studies, North Dakota State University in October 1993 (Acc.#93-1924).

ACCESS: Available for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the William Lemke Papers consists of newspaper clippings about Lemke, as well as several copies of the Congressional Record which record his addresses to the House of Represenataives.

The remarks from the Congressional Record include: Lemke's feelings regarding foreign trade (February 21, 1940), Missouri River Basin development (September 13, 1945) and the economic status of agriculture (December 21, 1945 and August 2, 1946).

The newspaper clippings date from 1936-1964, although some are undated. The majority of the clippings regard Lemke's run for President in 1936 as the candidate for the Union Party.
