This addition to the Robert D. Campbell Papers consists of a letter written by Campbell to Mary Margaret French on May 5, 1918. Campbell was the physician for the French family. When the United States entered World War I, Campbell volunteered to join the Medical Corps. The letter was written from Camp Grant in Rockford, Illinois, where Campbell was stationed. In the letter, Campbell writes that he hopes Frenchs flower garden is a success, and that she manages to avoid whooping cough.
Also included are remarks given by Mary Margaret (French) Frank at a medical awards banquet at UND on May 5, 1979. She presents a great deal of biographical information regarding Campbell in the speech, praising him as a gentle and personable man.
