ACQUISITION: This addition to the Glinda Crawford Papers was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by Glinda Crawford, Dept. of Sociology, UND, on August 24, 2004 (Acc.#2005-2734).

ACCESS: Available for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition to the Glinda Crawford Papers dates from 1973 to 1999. It contains the Thesis Crawford wrote while attaining her Master’s Degree, and the Dissertation she wrote while earning her Doctorate. Both her Master’s Degree and her Doctorate were completed at Iowa State University. Also included are reports and articles written by Glinda Crawford on the subject of home economics, as well as a book and a Winona LaDuke promotional bookmark in which Crawford is cited.

Also found are publications recording the history of the Home Economics Department at the University of North Dakota and the North Dakota Home Economics Association. These publications include a documented history of the Home Economics Department entitled “Home Economics and Nutrition” written by Mabel Curry, “Reflections: History of the North Dakota Home Economics Education Program Review”, and a brochure commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the North Dakota Home Economics Association.

SEPARATIONS RECORD

A video tape of Winona LaDuke’s speech to the University of North Dakota International Centre on April 19,1999, was separated and placed in the video tape collection. The speech was entitled “Environmentalism: Native and American on the Cusp of the Millennium.” The video tape was given number V 1749.
