ACQUISITION: The microfilmed passenger lists were purchased for the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection from the National Archives and Records Service, Washington, DC. (Acc #94-1937)

ACCESS: Open for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

These documents are reproduced from Records of the Bureau of Customs, Record Group (RG) 36 and contain lists of passengers arriving at smaller ports on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts and at ports on the Great Lakes. The lists are arranged alphabetically by the name of the port and thereunder by the date of arrival. Entries include passenger name, age, gender, occupation, country of origin, country to which they entered to become inhabitants, and a remarks column listing those who died in voyage. Some entries also contain ship type as well as the name of the ship and its master. A list of the ports, dates, and microfilm roll number is included within this inventory.
