BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

James Archibald McCrae graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1927 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He also attended graduate school at UND, and completed a Master of Arts degree in 1928. His thesis was entitled “Theodore Roosevelt's Relation to Conservation.”

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The James Archibald McCrae Papers consist of a copy of a fifteen-page essay written by McCrae, and entitled “The Relation of Chemistry to Agriculture.” The essay was submitted to the Committee on Prize Essays of the American Chemical Society, New York City, in January 1926. According to the June 1926 edition of The UND Alumni Magazine, McCrae was awarded a first prize check for $1,000.
