The Grand Forks Street Railway Company was incorporated in December 1908. A franchise for the operation of a trolley/streetcar line was granted by the city of Grand Forks in 1908 and East Grand Forks in 1910. In 1936, the stockholders authorized changing the name of the company to Grand Forks Transportation Company and, at the same time, authorized the use of buses. The company operated in Grand Forks until it was liquidated and dissolved in October 1974.
The Grand Forks Street Railway Company Records date from 1908-1974, and consist of four books which contain the records of all business transacted by the company from incorporation to dissolution. The books include by-laws, meeting minutes, and stock certificates, as well as the 1974 dissolution plan.
