ACQUISITION: This addition to the Milton R. Young Papers was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by John Bye, North Dakota State University, Institute for Regional Studies, on May 5, 1999 (Acc.#99-2303), May 21, 1999 (Acc.#99-2302), and June 3, 1999 (Acc.#99-2306).

This addition to the to the Milton Young Papers consists of 28 of Senator Young’s guest books, dating from 1945-1980, three films from 1962, 1968 and 1978, as well as 180 photographs.
Also included is a program "A Festival at Ford's." Senator Young played an important role in the restoration of Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. In 1946, he presented his first resolution to restore Ford's Theatre before Congress. It wasn't until his third attempt in 1953, that Young's resolution was approved by Congress and signed by President Eisenhower in 1954. It took another 10 years to get funding for the project. On January 21, 1968, 22 years after he began his effort to restore Ford's Theatre, Senator Young presided over the dedication of newly restored building.
