The Vice President for Research Records date from 1990-1999, and consist of files relating to awards given on Founders Day. The event began in 1904 on the university's 21 st anniversary and has continued yearly since then. One aspect of Founders Day are the awards given to outstanding faculty for individual excellence in teaching, outstanding faculty development, research and creativity and service, for Graduate or professional teaching excellence, and for outstanding scientific research. Awards are also given to departments for excellence in research, excellence in teaching, and excellence in service. Recognition is given to faculty and staff for 25 years of service and retired or retired faculty and staff. The names and sponsors of the given awards have changed and amounts for each award have also varied over time.
