CHRONOLOGY OF THE LIFE OF ELWYN B. ROBINSON

 October 13, 1905  Elwyn B. Robinson is born on a farm in Russell Township, Geauga County, Ohio.
 June, 1924  Graduates from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, High School.
 June, 1928  Graduates from Oberlin College with a A.B. in English.
 1928 - 1930  Teaches at New Lyme, Ohio.
 Spring 1930  Engaged to Eva Foster.
 September-December 1930  Teaches at Old Trail School, Akron, Ohio.
 February 1931  Begins graduate work in history at Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.
 September 2, 1935  Marries Eva and begins teaching career at University of North Dakota.
 June 1936  Receives Ph.D. and promoted to Assistant Professor of History at UND.
 October 19, 1939   Stephen Walter Robinson is born.
 November 14, 1942  Gordon Foster Robinson is born.
 1947-1948  Publishes Heroes of Dakota, 2 volumes.
 1947-1949  Presents radio talks on “Heroes of Dakota.”
 1948  Receives appointment to the Mississippi Valley Historical Association's committee for the preservation of historic sites in the Missouri Valley.
 June 1948  Receives promotion to Associate Professor of History at UND.
 January 1950  Begins teaching a new course on the history of North Dakota.
 Fall 1950  Receives appointment as a member of the Board of Directors of the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
 June 1951  Receives promotion to Professor of History at UND.
 June 1952  Begins writing The History of North Dakota.
 November 6, 1957  Delivers a public lecture entitled “The Themes of North Dakota History,” inaugurating the 75th Anniversary of the founding of UND.
 February 1959  Receives Distinguished Teacher Award from the Alumni Association, UND.
 July 1, 1963  Assumes Chairmanship of the Department of History, UND.
 November 1964  Resigns as Chairman of the Department of History, UND.
 December 1, 1964  Completes the manuscript, History of North Dakota.
 Fall 1966  History of North Dakota is published by the University of Nebraska Press.
 June 1967  Receives promotion to University Professor of History at UND.
 Fall 1967  Receives Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History for History of North Dakota.
 July 1, 1970  Retires from the University of North Dakota and resigns from the State Historical Board for the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
 February 26, 1984  Eva dies at United Hospital in Grand Forks.
 May 1984  Receives Distinguished Service Award from the Alumni Association, UND.
 March 24, 1985  Dies at Medical Park in Grand Forks.
 1986  Receives Heritage Profile Honor Award from the State Historical Board of the State Historical Society of North Dakota, (awarded posthumously).
