ACCESS: Open for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.
This addition to the Nash Finch Company Records consists of a copy of a portrait of Warren Phineheas/Phineas Nash. The portrait possibly dates from 1846, and was more than likely painted in either Montreal or northern Vermont. Efforts by the Nash family to identify the painter were unsuccessful.
The copy was made by photographing the original and creating a 8" x 10" transparency. The transparency was then scanned and saved in TIFF format, and then printed on photograph paper from a high quality printer. A letter from Nick Nash received along with the photograph explains the procedures undertaken, as well as the history of the portrait.
