INTRODUCTION

ACQUISITION: This addition to the Quentin Burdick Papers was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by David Strauss, Senator Burdick's Administrative Assistant and Campaign Manager, Washington, D.C., on August 6 and 14, 1992 (Acc.#92-1833).

ACCESS: Open for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This addition contains campaign files from Senator Burdick's 1982 and 1988 senatorial campaigns. The material includes election polls, campaign reports, newspaper clippings, delegate packages, and information on Burdick's opponents. Some interesting aspects of the collection include a campaign newsletter, “The Burdick Report,” produced by his staff, as well as the large amount of information on Burdick's 1988 opponent, Earl Strinden. The material provides an in-depth view of the mechanics of a political campaign.
